America relies on foster care and adoptions to provide homes for children in need. Mostly, the parents who step up are good folks who provide the love and care these children need so badly. On occasion though, foster care and adoption goes wrong. Children find themselves neglected, abused, sexually exploited and sometimes killed. In 2007, the Port St. Lucie Police Dept. launched an investigation into a New York woman who fraudulently adopted eleven special needs children then moved to Florida. They were starved, neglected and abused for years while their adoptive mother lived a lavish lifestyle from the lucrative adoption subsidies. Two were abandoned and another is missing and presumed deceased.
